Jake Sherley

My name is Jake Sherley. I’m a full time firefighter captain in California. I am married with 2 biological children and an adopted daughter from Zambia, Africa. I didn’t always see the importance of helping those in need. After all, I worked hard for what I had. It wasn’t until I was a couple years into running Thorn Clothing that something changed. I was tired of just going through the motions with the company and life. I wanted something real. I began picking a project to help fund with sales. I started understanding that my purpose was to just do something
In the summer of 2010 my life was changed forever. I was fortunate to go to Zambia, Africa and meet and work with the people who I had been sending funding to. There is no way I can begin to describe what it was like. Just know that you absolutely cannot grasp it without seeing it, smelling it and meeting a people group in their condition. They had nothing and yet were happy. They were thankful and happy to wake up that day and that their family was ok. My perspectives changed that trip. There was a level of need I had never seen before. There was nobody coming to help if I didn’t.
Knowing what I know now and having seen what I have seen, I am accountable for that and I will NOT sit silent in my house with food on shelves and water on tap. I WILL do something. I am no super hero. I have no real training in humanitarian relief but I have seen what I CAN do and I CAN do a lot and have been blessed to be able to have the support of many likeminded folks. I’m just Jake. If you can give me your trust and believe my story, support Love Water and together we can save lives. Let “never thirsty again” become your driving force to help those in need.

I believe that no matter where we are in life, no matter how much money we have or what kind of job we do, we are all looking to be loved and asking ourselves “what is my purpose?” There has to be more than just working and sleeping and spending money. Well I have found that when I love the love comes back to me. And through loving others, I found a passion for loving others and THAT was and is my purpose. It doesn’t matter what I drive, someone will most likely be driving it someday instead of me and it doesn’t matter what I live in because someone will be living in it after me. BUT what DOES matter is what I leave on this earth that will live long past me. I know that the communities we have impacted will have clean water for many many years to come. I know that my kids and those around me are seeing that it’s imperative to help others who can’t help themselves. That’s a win.
Thank you so much!
Jake
